Automatic Decision System Behaviors

Are you using the best system for the job?

The Automatic Decision System includes the sub-cortex area of the brain. It is the area most related to subconscious activity, so it is difficult for a person to describe if they are using the Automatic system. However, behavior can be an indicator that this system is dominant.  This is significant for decision-making because it will lead to the reliance on heuristics and concept-based thinking. This type of thinking is less accurate and leads to a higher likelihood of errors when deciding.

This quick evaluation helps the decision maker identify which system is dominant before making a decision, allowing the decision maker more control to select the best system for the job to be done. How to use this test:  Read each description and select True or False as what best reflects your state at the moment. A summary page will presented after submitting your responses to provide further explanation and recommendations.
