Age 10 to 14 Module 3 Introduction

  1. Lesson 3.1
    1. Recognize the conditions that trigger up-regulation to the Deliberate System, including familiarity, lack of progress, and novelty, and evaluate how these conditions influence decision-making processes.
    1. Apply the steps of the Deliberate Decision System to evaluate a complex decision-making scenario, identifying when each step is necessary and explaining how each step builds toward effective decision-making.
  2. Lesson 3.2
    1. Learners will accurately identify early signs of down-regulation by the ACC and implement preventative measures to maintain up-regulation, such as adjusting task sequences or focusing on unmet needs.
    1. Learners will apply tools that provide the ACC with the necessary context, accurate information, and a clear structure, facilitating the assessment of potential outcomes and conserving cognitive resources.
  3. Lesson 3.3
    1. Given a decision-making scenario, students will correctly apply each step of the Deliberate Decision-Making Pathway (DDMP) to reach a decision, demonstrating an understanding of the structured process and maintaining ACC activation.
  4. Lesson 3.4
    1. Apply prototyping techniques to test and refine solutions, ensuring continuous improvement based on observed results and learning feedback.
    1. Assess the effectiveness of decisions and actions by conducting an impact evaluation, reflecting on outcomes, and sharing insights to support future decision-making efforts.
